What to Expect During Your Session
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is very different from a traditional massage.
Rather than using deep pressure, this work uses slow, gentle, rhythmic movements that support the natural flow of lymphatic fluid throughout the body. Most people find the experience deeply calming and surprisingly relaxing.
Every session begins with a conversation so we can understand what you’re experiencing and what you hope to accomplish.
From there, your treatment is personalized to your needs. Depending on your comfort level and goals, your session may focus solely on lymphatic drainage or incorporate other complementary approaches when appropriate.
My intention isn’t to force your body to heal. It’s to gently support the conditions that allow your body to do what it was designed to do.
Healing Is More Than Physical
Our bodies carry the experiences of our lives.
Stress, illness, surgery, pregnancy, grief, and seasons of overwhelm all ask something of us physically. Caring for the body isn’t separate from healing. It’s part of it.
While Lymphatic Drainage Massage is designed to support the body’s physical systems, many people also notice feeling calmer, lighter, and more connected afterward.
When the body begins to feel safer, the nervous system often follows.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy for Children
Lymphatic Drainage is typically booked for children who are recovering from illness or surgery. It can also be integrated with other services.
Sessions are available both remotely and in person, with each experience thoughtfully adapted to your child’s age, comfort level, and personality.
f.a.q.
For most people, Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is deeply relaxing and uses very gentle, rhythmic movements.
Occasionally, however, an area of congestion or swelling may feel tender when it’s discovered. If that happens, I’ll always let you know what I’m feeling and explain your options. I will never work through discomfort without your permission, and any additional pressure is always guided by your comfort level.
Some clients choose to work gradually over several sessions rather than addressing a congested area all at once. My priority is never to push your body. It’s to work with it, honoring both your comfort and your body’s natural pace of healing.
Every body and every healing journey is different.
Some people experience meaningful relief after a single session, while others benefit from a series of treatments, especially during post-surgical recovery or when addressing long-standing swelling or inflammation.
During your first appointment, we’ll discuss your goals and create a plan that feels appropriate for your body and your situation. My goal is never to recommend more care than you truly need.
Yes. Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is commonly used to support recovery after many types of surgery by helping reduce swelling, encouraging healthy circulation, and supporting your body’s natural healing process.
If you’ve recently had surgery, it’s important to receive clearance from your surgeon before scheduling your appointment. Once you’re cleared, treatment can often be a gentle and supportive part of your recovery.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to relax.
Depending on the areas being treated, you may remain fully clothed or be comfortably draped under a sheet throughout your session. Your comfort, privacy, and sense of safety are always respected, and I’ll explain everything before we begin.
While Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is safe for many people, there are certain situations where it may not be appropriate.
Treatment may need to be postponed or modified if you have an active infection, a fever, certain untreated heart or kidney conditions, a blood clot, or other medical concerns that affect the movement of fluid within the body.
If you’re unsure whether Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is right for you, please reach out before scheduling. I’m happy to answer your questions or coordinate with your healthcare provider when appropriate to ensure your care is both safe and supportive.
Although both involve massaging techniques, they serve different purposes.
Traditional massage is generally designed to work with muscles, reduce tension, and improve mobility through varying levels of pressure.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy works just beneath the skin using slow, gentle, rhythmic movements that support the healthy movement of lymphatic fluid. Rather than focusing on muscle tension, it encourages circulation, reduces swelling, and supports your body’s natural healing processes.
Many people are surprised by how light the touch is, yet how deeply restorative the experience feels.
